What Farsign stores
Farsign creates a randomly generated identifier for your installation and stores it on your iPhone. When you send a signal, Farsign saves the sender identifier, the signal's energy value, and a timestamp in the private shared iCloud database used by your connection.
iCloud and the shared connection
Farsign uses Apple's CloudKit and a private CloudKit share to create and operate the connection between two people. You must be signed into iCloud to create or join that connection. Apple processes iCloud and CloudKit data under Apple's own terms and privacy policy.
What Farsign does not ask for
The current app does not ask for or store your real name, email address, contact list, photos, or message content. There is no public profile, public feed, analytics SDK, or advertising SDK in the current build.
Notifications
If you allow notifications, Farsign may notify you that a signal arrived. Notification delivery depends on your device settings and connection. You can change notification permission at any time in iPhone Settings.
Retention and control
Signal records and the connection live in the private shared CloudKit database. A participant can stop using Farsign or leave the shared connection through the controls available in the app or Apple's sharing system. CloudKit's handling of retained or deleted records is also governed by Apple's iCloud service.
Security language
Farsign does not claim end-to-end encryption or guaranteed delivery. We describe the connection as private because it uses a private CloudKit share for the two participants, not because Farsign provides a separate encryption system.
Changes
If Farsign's data practices change, this policy will be revised to describe the released app. The effective date above identifies the current version.
